Texas Trust Gives Foundation Donates $25,000 to Spread the Hope Peanut Butter Drive
North Texas Food Bank to buy 25,000 jars of peanut butter
ARLINGTON, Texas – Oct. 3, 2022 – The Texas Trust Gives Foundation presented a check for $25,000 to the North Texas Food bank. The donation will be used to purchase 25,000 one-pound jars of peanut butter to support the food bank’s Spread the Hope Peanut Butter Drive.
This year’s contribution to the Spread the Hope Peanut Butter Drive was more than double what Texas Trust donated last year.
The Texas Trust Gives Foundation leveraged the North Texas Giving Day crowdsourcing fundraiser – hosted by Communities Foundation of Texas – to generate $8,000 from individual contributors and another $7,000 in cash prizes offered by various partners of the Communities Foundation to reward non-profits for their fundraising efforts.
Through the North Texas Giving Day campaign, the Texas Trust Gives Foundation received the Fab Freshman prize from the Communities Foundation of Texas and a Time Block Grant awarded by the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, raising its total fundraising to $15,000. The Texas Trust Gives Foundation then added $10,000 on top what it raised on North Texas Giving Day allowing it to make a donation of $25,000 for the Spread the Hope Peanut Butter Drive.
“We are excited about what we were able to raise through our first crowdsourcing fundraising campaign,” said Washima Huq, Executive Director of the Texas Trust Gives Foundation. “Because we were able to double what we gave last year, we also doubled the number of people we are able to help through this campaign, which is the purpose of this foundation.”
Huq added, “This was a team effort, with JP Godoy, AVP of Business Services at Texas Trust Credit Union being the driver behind the cause. We appreciate everyone who donated to us on North Texas Giving Day and for helping us make a difference in the lives of our neighbors and friends.”
“Through their gift, Texas Trust Gives Foundation has shown a shared dedication and passion in providing nourishment and hope for our neighbors experiencing hunger,” said Trisha Cunningham, President and CEO of the North Texas Food Bank. We are so grateful for the generous and critical support the community provides, and partners like Texas Trust Gives Foundation bring us closer to our goal of a hunger-free, healthy North Texas.”
